紐約死亡金屬四天王之一、洞穴死亡金屬始祖 Incantation 奇蹟來台！

Incantation 成立於 1989 年，由 John McEntee 與 Paul Ledney 創立，是美國死亡金屬史上最具傳奇色彩的樂團之一。他們被視為紐約死亡金屬場景最核心的代表，與 Suffocation、Immolation、Mortician 並列為「紐約死亡金屬四天王」。

Incantation 的重要性，在於他們徹底改寫了死亡金屬的氛圍與重量感。樂團將高速殘暴的死亡金屬，與極度緩慢、近乎窒息的死亡／末日段落相互融合，搭配低沉而模糊的吉他音牆與深淵般的人聲，塑造出陰暗、混沌、宛如地下墓穴般的聲響美學。這種後來被稱為「洞穴死亡金屬（Cavernous Death Metal）」的風格，自 1992 年經典專輯《Onward to Golgotha》確立之後，幾乎定義了整個黑暗系死亡金屬的聲音方向，並深刻影響了 Dead Congregation、Grave Miasma、Portal 等後世樂團。

不同於許多技術精密卻顯得冰冷的死亡金屬，Incantation 的現場更像是一場翻湧不止的黑暗儀式：低沉調弦與巨大的音牆在現場形成強烈的壓迫聲場，速度與極慢段落之間的劇烈反差，讓整個空間彷彿被拖入深淵。三十多年來，Incantation 始終維持著原始而邪惡的創作核心，不只是紐約死亡金屬的重要象徵，更是死亡金屬黑暗美學的建立者——陰暗、混沌、邪惡且毫不妥協。

本次台北公演更將集結我們的老戰友——日本技術死金大師 Subconscious Terror，以及首次登台的印尼老學校死亡金屬傳奇 Exhumation。三組風格各具代表性的極端樂團齊聚一堂，這場極度邪惡的現場儀式，絕對讓所有死亡金屬信徒欲罷不能。

New York Death Metal Titan & Cavernous Death Metal Pioneer Incantation Finally Invades Taiwan!

Formed in 1989 by John McEntee and Paul Ledney, Incantation stands as one of the most legendary bands in the history of American death metal. They are widely regarded as one of the core pillars of the New York death metal scene, alongside Suffocation, Immolation, and Mortician — often referred to as the “New York Death Metal Big Four.”

What makes Incantation so important is how they completely reshaped the atmosphere and weight of death metal. The band fused blistering, savage death metal with extremely slow, suffocating death/doom passages, combined with murky low-tuned guitar walls and abyssal vocals. The result is a dark, chaotic sonic aesthetic that feels like it’s echoing from deep inside an underground crypt.

This style, later known as Cavernous Death Metal, was firmly established with their 1992 classic Onward to Golgotha, an album that essentially defined the sonic direction of dark death metal for decades to come. Their influence can be heard in later bands such as Dead Congregation, Grave Miasma, and Portal.

Unlike many technically precise yet cold death metal bands, Incantation’s live performance feels more like a relentless dark ritual. Massive low-tuned riffs and crushing walls of sound create an oppressive sonic atmosphere, while the violent contrast between blistering speed and suffocating slow passages pulls the entire room into the abyss. For more than three decades, Incantation has remained uncompromisingly true to their primitive and sinister vision — not only as a symbol of New York death metal, but as one of the architects of death metal’s darkest aesthetics: bleak, chaotic, evil, and uncompromising.

This historic Taipei show will also feature our longtime comrades, Japanese technical death metal masters Subconscious Terror, alongside Indonesia’s legendary old-school death metal force Exhumation, making their first appearance on our stage.

Three ferocious bands representing different corners of extreme death metal will gather for one night of absolute darkness.

This will be a ritual of pure sonic evil that no death metal devotee should miss.
